CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
We organize our dance classes into three different placements in order to cater to the needs of different levels of dancers.
By working with dancers who have a similar skillset, our dancers will be able to train more efficiently and reach their individual goals faster!
Our three placements are Beginning Dance, Show Dance, and Competitive Dance.

ABOUT BEGINNING DANCE
Our Beginning Dance classes are open to all students, and no dance experience is needed. Through our Beginning Dance course, students are exposed to various styles of dance, including Hip-Hop and Jazz, to help develop them as well-rounded dancers. The class curriculum is based on choreography layered with traditional movement, and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, and combinations. As students progress through the semester, the curriculum becomes increasingly more complex and intricate. Students in Beginning Dance have the option to perform in our two shows, "CV's Got Talent" and "Spring Showcase". Our Beginning Dance courses fulfill the P.E. requirement for 9th and 10th grade students. Students may register through their counselor; no audition is required.
ABOUT SHOW DANCE
Show Dance is suited for dancers of an Intermediate level. Through our Show Dance course, students learn choreography that prepares them to be confident performers. Students train in styles including Hip Hop, Jazz Funk, Jazz, Contemporary, and Lyrical. Show Dance members work diligently to prepare for our on-campus shows, "CV's Got Talent" and "Spring Showcase". The class curriculum is based on choreography layered with traditional movement, and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, and combinations. As students progress through the semester, the curriculum becomes increasingly more complex and intricate. Students in Show Dance are driven to learn and expand their dance knowledge. Many students in Show Dance progress to join Competitive Dance in the future. Students interested in Show Dance must participate in our annual auditions.
ABOUT COMPETITIVE DANCE
Competitive Dance is best suited for dancers of an Advanced level. Through our Competitive Dance course, students meet during the school day and at after-school practices to train for competitions. The team also performs at school rallies and events, community events, and at our two shows. Dancers should be well-rounded, motivated, and hard-working individuals. Competitive Dance members display a high level of dedication and a drive to grow as dancers and leaders. Students interested in Competitive Dance, including All-Male, must participate in our annual auditions.
