Dance Department Auditions (all levels): May 20-22, 2026
STEP 1
Read the Audition Packet and Fill Out the Application Form
Parents and dancers should review the Informational Packet together and discuss which placement option may be best for each dancer.
Fill out the Application form. The email you use is how we will contact you throughout the audition process. GUSD Student emails will not be able to successfully communicate with us. A separate Gmail account should be used.
Once submitted, the coaching staff will receive your information and responses. You will receive an automated confirmation message from Google that your information was received. Only submit the form once.
If we do not receive your form, you will not receive an audition number on Wednesday!
STEP 2
Attend our Audition Choreo days:
Wednesday, May 20th and Thursday, May 21st, 4 to 6 pm
Dancers will learn two audition combos - one Jazz and one Hip Hop. Jazz is optional for All-Male dancers only.
Wednesday, May 20th 4-6 pm - Students will learn the Jazz Audition combo.
Thursday, May 21st 4-6 pm - Students will learn the Hip Hop Audition combo.
Videos of each combo will also be posted on our Youtube channel.
STEP 3
Audition!
Show and Competitive Dance: Friday, May 22nd, from 4 to 6 pm.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to check in and warm up. Our volunteers will check our records for your Audition Form, then assign you an audition number. Students will then audition in a small group. See the Informational Packet for audition requirements!
FAQ
CAN YOU AUDITION FOR BOTH COMPETITIVE AND SHOW DANCE?
Yes! You will be considered for all levels at your audition.
HOW MANY DANCERS ARE ACCEPTED ONTO COMPETITIVE DANCE?
We do not have a set limit to our team roster!
I DON'T HAVE EXPERIENCE IN JAZZ/HIP HOP. DO I HAVE TO LEARN BOTH COMBOS TO AUDTION?
Yes, dancers must perform the Jazz and the Hip Hop combo to audition. Jazz is optional for All-Male dancers only.
Please do not stress about a style you may not know. The coaches consider numerous factors at auditions, including work ethic, attitude, and determination. Try your best and have fun with it!
WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT FOR EACH DANCE LEVEL? I HAVE OTHER COMMITMENTS, AP CLASSES, ETC.!
Please reference the Informational Packet for details on the time commitment for each dance level. For Competitive Dance, expect at least one after-school practice weekly.
Participating in dance and other activities is absolutely doable. Many CV dancers are also involved in other programs on and off campus, including studio training, jobs, church groups, tutoring, music groups, clubs, and AP classes!
